If you love the sound of the Big Bands we would love you to join us.
We are a friendly and welcoming group of enthusiasts who appreciate and enjoy the great sounds of the Big Swing Bands and the Great American songbook. Whether it’s Basie, Ellington or Goodman, Ella, Frank or Nat King Cole, Beiderbecke, Shearing or the Dorseys, or your own particular favourite artist, we play recordings on high quality equipment to meet every taste - sometimes including non-commercial recordings featuring some members who are themselves jazz musicians who have played with big bands.
We get together every third Thursday of the month, 7.30pm in the Ellen Pettit Memorial Hall, 2 High Street, Woburn Sands (next to the Swan Inn). See the 'Find Us' page for a map. It costs just £5.00 a year for membership and £2.00 each time you come, which includes tea or coffee and biscuits (£3 guests).
Come and join us without obligation to join so you can see if you enjoy the music and the presentations by musicians and fellow members. Meet and socialise with others who share your enthusiasm for the great music and songs of the Big Swing Band era.

Live Big Band Concert a success
Our live concert for 2019 featured the SWING’S THE THING big band and was held on 18th July at Aspley Guise Village hall. It was a great success.
Swing’s The Thing was formed in 1998 and is widely regarded as one of the foremost exponents of big band music in our area. 18 professional and amateur musicians have gelled into an impressive ensemble able to tackle the most demanding of scores from a wide selection of the big bands of the past.
The audience of over 100 were treated to a wide selection of big band numbers in the style of Glenn Miller, Buddy Rich, Ted Heath, Henry Mancini and Count Basie. Vocal classics by Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald were faithfully recreated by Mel Peake, Katherine Mclean and the band.
Proceeds from the concert were donated to Willen Hospice by a presentation of a £1,000 cheque at our September meeting (pictured).
